Why is the story titled "A Summer's Reading"?

The story is called "a summer's reading" because until G understood that he need(gr.) to do something with his life (to read), it took him the whole summer to understand it and then he started to read his 100 books.
All the(ww.-the whole) process was(ww.-took place) during the summer and Mr.c helped to(מיותר) G to understand it.(16)

Activity 4: Compare and Contrast
How would you define the character of George Stoyonovich?
  George is…
Answer: George is living(gr.-lives) at(ww.-in) (a) poor neighborhood, he left school when he was 16 years (old), (Start a new sentence) now he's 19 years old, he have(gr.) a father and a sister, (New sentenec) his father doesn't communicate with his environment and he's working(gr.) at the fish market,(New sentence) he's(ww.-his) sister talks a lot with him and give(gr.) him some money from her work at(ww.-in) the Bronx.
George is  taking his motivation from his environment(phr.), he wants everybody (to) respect and to be independent(what??), he doesn't like the school and he hate(gr.) the teachers because he doesn't like the idea that someone tells(gr.) him what to do and how, so he left the school, he even didn't try to complete his education so, in my opinion, he is lazy too.

Luckily for George, he is still young and able to change his situation, unlike Mr. Cattanzara.
The meaning of Stoyonovich in Polish is "Staying in one place".
The meaning of Cattanzara in Italian is "Chained to a place".(כבול)
  1. What is true about Mr. Cattanzara?לאפיין
Answer: Mr.C is(מיותר) works at(ww.-as) the change maker at the underground train, he doesn't(gr.-isn't) happy with his life, so he gets drunk often, (New sentence) he has a sick wife who cares about him very much, at the(מיותר) nights, when Mr.C. reads "The New York Times" from cover to cover, she's(gr.) looks at him. Mr.C cares about George and about George's future. He asked him how does(מיותר) he spends his summer, and he want(gr.) to hear a convincing answer from him, (New sentence) his work tells us about his role at(ww.-in) George's life.
Mr.C's situation is permanent, he can't change his situation and as his last name he's chained to a place(ww.- his house, his wife and his job)
.
 2. Compare and contrast George and Mr. Cattanzara. How are they similar? How are they different?מה דומה ומה שונה

George and Mr.C both are(מיותר) need to pick up their education in goal(ww-order) to get a better future but Mr.cC, as opposed to George, is Intelligent ,he know(gr.) when George is lying to him.
They both live in the same neighborhood, they are both immigrants.
They are(מיותר) both don't have a good relation with their family, they are both simple people.
George and Mr.C both are escaping(gr.-escape) from reality, everyone with(phr.-each in) his own way, George is going(gr.) to the park and dreaming(gr.) about a better life, as opposed to Mr.c, that his way to(ww.-who) escapes from reality is to get(ww.-by getting) drunk and to read(gr.-reading) his newspaper from cover to cover.

George is a teenager and he still can change his future, whereas Mr.c he's(ww.-is) already (an) adult and he can't change his future.

George takes his motivation(phr.) from the people around him, whereas Mr.c that taking care for himself(not clear what you mean here).

Activity 3: The author
Read the biography of the writer, Bernard Malamud .
Find and tick all the autobiographic details reflected in the story.

Bernard Malamud wrote about famous people.
Bernard Malamud worked at odd jobs.
Bernard Malamud's mother died when he was young.
Bernard Malamud was interested in simple people.V
Bernard Malamud wrote about people whose hopes come true

How is the information you have just read about the author reflected in "A Summer's Reading"?
How does reading this information about Bernard Malamud add to or change your understanding of the story?
Answer:
As Bernard Malamud, George doesn't have a mother and his family has an economic problem and they are both immigrants.
This information helps me to understand the story better because, I know now that Bernard Malamud took the situation from his life, and he changes(gr.) some of the details, (New sentence) he make(gr.) the story more like his life, without a mother, he emigrated from another country to the U.S, and the most similar point between them is the education (You have to explain what you mean exaclty), beside(ww.) (Start a new sentence) the difference (between them is) that George just knew he had a problem but he didn't do anything to solve the problem, while Bernard knew his problem and he tried to solve it.(16)

Activity 2: Cause and Effect
We have read in the book that things that happen make more sense when we understand why they have happened (the cause) and what the result is (the effect)
<!--[if !supportLists]-->1.      <!--[endif]-->Explain  the following line from the story. Say what has happened to make George feel this way. Use the thinking skill of Explaining Cause and Effect to help you: "George knew he looked passable on the outside, but inside he was crumbling apart."פסקה

Answer: George lied to Mr.Cattanzara, he told him he was reading to pick up his education. One night, George saw Mr.Cattanzara when he was drunk, and he thought Mr.Cattanzara won't(gr.-wouldn't) ask him about his reading, but Mr.Cattanzara asked him about his reading so George was shocked.(how exactly did he feel?)
2. Another issue to discuss here is the effect George's lie had on his life:
How did the lie George told affect his life? Consider both the short term and possible long term effects of the lie.פסקה
Answer :
Short (term effect): First George felt great. He got the respect from his neighbors and from his family. After(ww.-then) he knew(ww.-realized) that Mr.C know(gr.) he was lying. He was depressed, he closed himself in his room and he didn't want to talk with anyone.(Start a new sentence) once in a while he got out his room to get a snack, his sister tried to help him and to communicate with him but he didn't talk with her. After a few days he started to read the 100 books, to pick up his education.(so, that's the long term effect? why don't you write it?)

Activity 1:
Throughout the plot, both George Stoyonovich and Mr. Cattanzara try to escape from reality.
Listen to and watch another character, who wishes to escape from reality, in the song Bohemian Rhapsody performed by Queen (while reading the lyrics.)
How do they escape from their reality?
Drag the correct answer to each of the characters.
George Stoyonovich  -Goes to the park to day-dream.
Drag the right answer here
Mr. Cattanzara -Drinks alcohol.
Drag the right answer here
The Queen singer -Commits a crime.
Drag the right answer here

Now that you understand how different people escape from reality, what do you recommend they should do instead?
George walks to the park and in the park he dreams about a better future to get some money to spend ,to have a girlfriend (he doesn't want to be lonely). I would  recommend him to do something for(ww. - about) that ,try to finish school, learn by himself, but first of all to get a self-discipline(phr.- to become more disciplined).
Mr.Cattanzara drinks a lot and get(gr.) drunk, he reads his New York Times from cover to cover . To Mr.Cattanzara I would recommend to try to talk with somebody professional about his situation and try to be more stable. (17)
